anchor watch apps for iphone?

I found a battery powered HH Marine gps plugged into 12v socket by the window in our cabin works a treat. Close enough to wake me. The helm chart plotters are too far away from our cabin to be loud enough to wake us.

I use this one https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/anchor-alarm-for-boaters/id743610888?mt=8 and it works well providing you've got a reasonable mobile signal. If you havent then it gives false alarms as the location of the boat jumps around

I dont know what other apps are like but this one uses battery life heavily and my iPhone SE wont last 8hrs overnight with the app live. I fitted a 12V USB socket next to my bed to keep the phone charged (thanks to Hurricane of this parish for his advice) and that solved the problem

Like Nigel we use Anchor Watch and it has worked well for us. Trick is to set a sensible guard zone and to initiate the watch close to the point in the boat where you are likely to need it. In a 50 foot plus boat it could make quite a difference if you initiate the watch at the bow and then locate the iPhone by your bed in, say, the aft cabin, especially if you have set a narrow guard zone.
