This has been posted before I think,so forgive me asking again. How can you identify a genuine Lewmar Delta anchor? I believe that there are copies on the market,I have ordered a genuine one (I hope) and want to check that it is kosher. Cheers

My Genuine Delta anchor comes with a plastic sticker either side, with Delta printed on it, and a hurriedly removed "made in china" sticker. Bougth from a reputable chandler!

Other fakes just look like the real one.

Works very well. My best anchor so far.

So I am a bit puzzled....is your's a fake or genuine?

As I understand it, the Delta started life as a Simpson - Lawrence and has the name & weight both in Lbs & Kg embossed in the bottom before galvanising.

Lewmar bought them and it sounds as if they saved some pennies by not having the make & weight permanently displayed on the anchor?

If it’s now just a sticker then it’s a fair bet there will be some dodgy stuff hitting the marketplace.

Enjoy……… Peter

I suppose the real worry is what steel has it been made from. I know very little about this other than part of the arguement that raged last year between Rocna's perenial salesman and Manson, where one accused the other of using ordianry steel. Manson refuted this with the Lloyds tests that are carried out regularly on the steel quality used. - so it looks like the steel quality is an important factor in the ultimate strenght.

Am I right in thinking that the Delta has a lead weight in its tip? If so, that's the first thing a copy will omit.
Incidentally a real Delta will, if placed on a smooth floor, come to rest with its pointed tip pressing on the floor. True of some other anchors too. Obvious implications for setting.
