I intend to explore East Coast area next season. My boat is a Nimbus 27 famillia (About 28 ft in length). One of my winter jobs is to replace my anchor and chain, what anchor and length of chain would you advise for use in the area.

I have a 31' boat, 20m of 8mm chain plus 20m of nylon, never needed more (so far!!).
If I was renewing I think I'd get an extra 10m of chain just for peace of mind.

A 25 foot boat. As purchased 5 metres of 8 mm chain plus 25 metres rope.

Now: 35 metres 8 mm chain plus 25 metres of rope.

Danforth anchor.

Note to self, do not use 25 metres as the range for the anchor dragging alarm on the Garmin if you want a good night's sleep.

We have a 10kg Delta on our 25ft boat (2.4 ton dry weight) with 80ft 8mm chain plus extra rope.

We have not needed to set all of the chain out yet and the anchor has held firm everytime.

27ft boat - I have 25m of 8mm chain plus about 20m of anchorplait, did have a 10kg Delta which ploughed some long furrows on occasion - this season I have a Fortress FX11 which has been good so far.

35FT/ 7.5T 15kg CQR 50m /10mm Chain. 60m anchorplait if required.
FX16 Fortress 10m 10mm Chain 30m anchorplait.

The Kobra 2 anchor is a nice bit of kit, very cost effective and great holding. 35m of 10mm chain and 35m of octoplait.
