hlb asked recently about a strong chain sling to take the weight of the chain off the windlass.

Parsons chain make a wide range of tough chain grabbers which lock onto the chain securely. They also make swivel links with high specs.

Jimmy Green has the open-ended type - which can in theory release of its own volition - and they now produce a chain gripper which has a captive pin.

No I did'nt, I was answering some one else. Anyway those in the picture are crap, if I wanted to wrap chain round the deck, I might as well just wrap the anchor chain round a cleat. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
