ANAZOTE

I have an old Scow clinker dingy and it has Anazote as flotation. The old plans I have say 6lb of positive buoyancy to be supplied in the form of Anazote sewn in canvas and evenly distributed fore and aft.
I do not want to destroy the canvas to have a look so can anyone tell me what Anazote is???

Never heard of it, but just googled and came up with this: http://www.polyformes.co.uk/evazote.html

They seem to do various foams ending in 'zote' so could be one of theirs.

I think Anazote was before foam.
