Does anybody know the number of poles the KAD alternator has and the reduction between the water pump pulley to Volvo KAD specific alterntor pulley?

Hey juicy brucie

Can you not run the tacho and the nmea converter then adjust the dips until they match?

I feel guilty having sent you down this particular rabbit hole

I'm used to rabbit holes, its getting to the back of the engine bay where I have got a bit fat for. My little beer belly slides over the rocker cover housings going in. Gravity catches it on the other side and I get stuck. 30 minutes last week all on me lonesome. I had to strip off my jacket and shirt and suck in my belly like I was on the beach and 2 pair voluptuous boobies were strolling past, just for some wriggle room to get out. I have a nice set of injector pipe bruises now that look like a demented six pack strapped over a keg.

Anyway where were we. There are a 128 dip switch connections. Start me off on a ball park figure before I hustle over the engines again

I just started at 1 and kept working up. I think it’s only 1-16 then 125-128

Did you not mount it behind the dash…..where all the wires you need end up? 🤣🤣🤦‍♂️

Behind the dash I have voltage drop which skews readings and I'll be damned if I can figure out why. Loom all shows 0 Ohm and I guess the voltage regulators coupled to the 4 warning lights are just lazy in their dotage. Anyway they are an expensive suck it and see replacement and I think a digital dash to MFD and or to a 12 inch Tab via a nmea 2000 wireless gateway will modernise the boat and give me todger waving rights over Roy who is still stuck in the dark ages.
If you see him around please remind him my boat is still miles faster and people here still refer to him as James May.

Comparing Roy to James May
Is really an insult to the ex 'Top Gear' chappie hactually
However on a brighter note
There is a chappie who frequents the Marina where your vessel is parked Sir
Who has performed a similar excersize on His boat which is parked not far from yourself
IE an Analogue to Digital conversion
As usual for a Small Introductry Fee I may be persuaded to persuade said Boffin in your direction
I would love to help personally but unfortunatly my cranium does not have the capacity to understand what the bleedin H yer on about!
all the best
K

Kwakkers, your small fees, you old Victorian, amount to India and one or two lesser colonies. How about a cup of tea and a pack of B n H if you smoke them on the pontoon?

I'm with mr Googler on that, wire the new A2D up, get your plotter to display and run the engine on idle and start playing with the whatever settings you have - 7 toggles is a piece of cake...
:-) some will be way off, so easy to get close to the right ones relatively quickly.
I remember once helped a guy in the pontoon with my RPM counter app on my android phone. Dead easy!

voltage drop means negatives foobared? check the main to el panel and engine block maybe?

cheers

Yes….but this is Mr K….he has no doubt installed the converter box in a location that defies belief……and access.

He’s got a book coming out soon…..”how to complicate all things” in hard back (just to make storing the book difficult) and a series of short stories, each titled “why I had to buy it twice”
