An unbreakable mobile telephone

After my fragile Sony Ericsson C905 died a sudden death when a big wave came over the bow I thought I'd look for a tough phone to replace it.

If you can break it ANY way in 3 years they will replace it. It's that indestructible. Completely waterproof and shockproof.

It does seem pretty unbreakable, I sent a text from the bath which was on odd experience!

Going from a modern phone to this is interesting, it's like the phones from 7 or 8 years ago in terms of features. But I'm sure I'll soon forget about all the gimmicks and just be grateful for having a phone that is suitable for all environments!

So just thought, if you're worried about your phone this season you might be interested too!
 
I must say I prefer the other route, buy as cheap as poss and chuck away when dead. Most recently I bought a cheapo cheerful Motorola from Tesco for about 30 quid, but it was several years ago. Lacks gizmo's but does useful things like phone calls and texts and even takes a pic if desperate. It's sailed all over, even crossed the Baltic in a gale and the North Sea in October.
The thing is still going strong, even still has good battery life. £429 for a phone? Phew...
 
With a bit of googling you can get it for half that!

It's a bit of a pain if your phone breaks while in the middle of a holiday though isn't it? I suppose I could carry a spare but I like the idea of something that won't break.

I suppose I'm relaxed about that as wifey has a phone too and it's unlikely that both phones will conk out or fall overboard! Don't need mine for 'work' either..
 
In 5 minutes I'm off to buy a phone for our visitors to use when they come to stay with us. At 15 CHF (say £9) on a prepaid program, I could buy one a month for the next three years, and still be ahead of the game.
But it is a pretty cool toy, and I would mind having one!
 
I havent broken a mobile phone in the almost 20 years that I've had one.... and I've sailed a few miles with them.

Usually have 3 knocking around - 1 for my UK sim, 1 for a mobile dat sim, and one for a local sim of the country I'm in, so if one broke, I can move the sims around.

Certainly dont need to spend £400+ on one

I got a sony M110 which is shock resitant, water resistant and dust proof, bit basic for a modern mobile phone... there is one clever feature though... you can press some buttons and then talk to someone!! but seriously it was only £30 and well rugged... cheers Iain

I suspect that is more an issue about the owner than the phone. I just know I shouldn't say this, but I haven't lost a single phone in 12 years - so far. Always losing & breaking sunglasses tho' so only pay a quid to thirty bob for them so I don't care.

My current phone is kept in my shirt pocket on a lanyard around my neck. It also has a disposable clear perspex cover to protect against dropping on rock or in mud. As I am on a contract I also keep my last two upgrades "just in case" and store the data on my laptop so I don't lose too much data if I lose it. I shall now go & knock on wood.
