I sailed past that bad baby yesterday at a distance of about 0.3Nm. Lots of activity around it including what looked like trip boats! Thought it looked a bit skanky, and a very poor show of an ensign.

The trip boats are "Liberty Boats" - hired to take the sailors to and from the shore

I cant see it on AIS... I get Wilventure a Port Tender, Ali Cat of Cowes trip boat and the Rossini a refueling tanker...and Wyeforce Tug all around err.. nothing. Crafty little suckers

I don't think there's a law that says a foreign power's warship needs to be visible on AIS to all and sundry when she's anchored... or maybe I'm wrong about that too...!

An extra island? It looks more like a sitting duck to me. That's probably due to my late Dad's influence, he served WW2 on one of many destroyers escorting an aircraft carrier in the Pacific fleet. I remember as a kid, whenever a smallish plane flew overhead, he used to say "It's OK, it's one of ours!" I thought it was a joke at the time, but now I can just start to understand where that comment came from.
