So where is this? :)

Similar Dutch boats were seen going up the River Orwell.....this looks more like the River Stour though can I have two guesses ?

I'd vote for the Stour cos of the pylons, I don't know the Stour and I can't think of pylons anywhere else.
Those giant police phoneboxes in the background ought to be dead giveaways.

That's Jim Dines' little brigantine, bought with the proceeds of his work on Cutty Sark. So somewhere on the south side of the Blackwater, probably St Lawrence bay.

From the angle of the sun and the clouds I would say it is mid afternoon and we are looking roughly south. The set of the sails and the sea state suggests light afternoon sea breeze. There are two sets of powerlines running approximately west to east and diverging suggesting a powerstation not to far away...

But I still don't know where it is! :)

I phoned a friend who followed power lines near water with no luck

I agree with Dom. Almost sure it is the south shore of the Blackwater, St Lawrence Bay somewhere just east of The Stone. An OS map would probably show the poultry sheds but haven't got map to hand.

Google Earth

I've been staring at Google Earth. Trouble is seeing the two power lines. One might well think it's the Blackwater south bank (if only because it's TG's patch and the old boy doesn't venture far these days) but nothing fits e.g. there is only one power line that I can see. Arguably you might be looking at one that turns the corner out of the left of picture, which could mean it's just east of Bradwell Power Station. But that looks all wrong unless it's all distorted by a very long lens.
I even found maps of the National Grid online but that didn't help.
Baffled. I give up.

Sorry to have gone quiet. Had to go out and ended up talking too much (without drink). David is right - south bank of the Blackwater, the power station is just out of sight to the right. I am standing near the end of Beach Road on West Mersea hence the height, camera on full x 24 zoom so its distorting the background. I think - though not sure that the buildings are on the old runway at Bradwell Bay and the trees behind on the cross runway. I took the photo and stared at Google Earth for quite a while trying to fi8nd the buildings!
