Re: America\'s Cup On TV!!

Swiss seem quicker on the down hill run,

NZL have a wind pocket of 10kts near the left layline

SUI have 8 kts in their wind funnel.

SUI is slowing catching NZL both just gibed and on opposite tacks.

NZL 93m

The Swiss keep the Kiwis gibing hoping that they twist something.

NZL 113m

SUI

Swiss are running out of options, gibing again, forcing NZL to follow, but the Swiss not gaining.

NZl 126m

Re: America\'s Cup On TV!!

yeah my avatar is one of 2 keel bulbs that ETNZ have. This is the buzzy bee (an iconic kiwi childhood hero) and the other is simply the NZ flag. Until now we've been using the flag but for the AC final switched to buzzy bee which is slightly longer to give slightly better upwind performance. The worry after y'day was that it had cost us too much in downwind performance but after today's race, when we actually managed to extend over Alinghi on leg 4, that doesn't seem to be the case.

So we retook the lead after taking advantage of a slight tactical error by Alinghi (poor lee bow tack) and then managed to hold/extend on the final downwind. Trouble is, Alinghi won't make mistakes like that every race so we have to find a way to call the first shifts better than Alinghi next time.

Anyway, yeehaaa!

Hi Rob

My youngest Brother lives near Auckland.

To be honest he is on the headland just to the left of Auckland, on the wongaporoa (sp?) he can see the volcano island from three sides of his house, and of to the left can see the tower in Auckland, which is about 30 miles as the pelican flies!

Has his own plumbing company out there. His youngest child Natasha was born there two years ago.

Phew Al, another brilliant race-cast. A wee bit of interference today but none the less a very helpful bit of commentary.

No doubt Murdoch's lawyers will be on the blower any time now to attempt to stifle your output!

I hope you're taking the day off tomorrow so that standards can be maintained?

Huge thanks again. A couple of virtual

That's where I live, at Gulf Harbour marina at the end of the Whangaparaoa Peninsula. Stunning. My house and boat are almost visible in the pic below! In the summer I regularly sail to work on a Mon morning, berth in the viaduct harbour for the week and liveaboard, great atmosphere.
