I'm now really worried about ETNZ's chances having seen the first race.
Upwind both boats looked fairly even. But downind, Alinghi's speed advantage was daunting and for ETNZ to stand a chance they would need to round the first mark at least 100m ahead to defend their lead against a faster SUI100 chasing them down.
I think our only chance is if the wind goes light and shifty and ETNZ pick the shifts better. Otherwise, I fear this could be it. I hope I'm wrong but my instinct says not. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
Swiss now had to tack as they got to their layline, and now coming to the 2nd cross, 2 lengths ahead NZL on port tack.
NZL tacked back to stbd. Swiss protecting the right forcing NZL to tack away.
NZL port tack Swiss on stbd, Swiss should tack now and force NZL to tack away again.
I have sky but not interested in sport so cancelled the SKY Sports subscription, turns out the week later it was the P1 Powerboat championships - harumph
