American style boat recovery

They could have let the clutches off putting anchors into free fall (provided they were fitted)
What I was thinking. Surely you can release anchors without electrical power, for precisely this kind of emergency.

I don’t have to deal with that on a daily basis, as our anchors are not electrically powered in the first place!

By the time they realised they were in trouble…it’s possible they were already in the surf and it might have been too dangerous to send someone up front…especially if they were the second shift of the delivery crew and asleep in their cabin
There are lots of scenarios including being on autopilot

Yes, There don’t seem to be any side rails which I guess is a fashion thing but at the expense of safely in this sort of situation.
I‘m not sure if European manufacturers would be this foolhardy.

It’s a sports fishing boat. They don’t have bow rails ! Assuming you were being sarcastic;)

I’ve deliberately not entered into too much dialogue as there is plenty out there on what happened.

Actually, most of them do, even in the US.
Even if it's true that over there a relevant number of buyers of these things rate form over function.
Then again, they haven't been able to elect a half decent President for ages...

They would have had plenty of time off shore well before any surf to manually deploy the anchor(s)
The lack of bow rails is cul d sac , irrelevant .They could have easily tied a line to a guy from a H+S pov .Bare in mind the all the ICEs had stopped so zero prop hazards .

We are all assuming the windlass has a clutch and crew familiar.

I mean did someone go Fwds and was unable ( in a only ever happens in America way ? ) to deploy manually?
This hasn’t anything to do with loverly uncluttered design of the bow 🤗.

Preposterous to infer bow rails would have saved the boat as it’s is to say Aliens escaped from Area 51 returning the abducted boat in the wrong place after shutting down all power . The lack of bow rails is in that silo of ideas .

Keep them coming though 🤫

A friend and I borrowed a yacht in Miami and sailed down the Florida Keys. We anchored off Key West and went ashore. While we were ashore there was the mother and father of a thunderstorm and when we got back to the boat, the anchor had dragged and it was on the beach ( lifting keel, so upright). Lucky as a hundred yards either way were rocks.

Something like that vessel but with three ginormous outboards was patrolling the area looking for casualties and had us off in seconds.

What did you pay them?
