We are currently sailing an Amel Santorin in Greece and we plan to upgrade the boat to a Super Maramu 2000. . Are in the forum any sailors that we can discuss about the Amel boats? My Santorin is for sale and you can find details on my personal web page htpp://arctic.pcsystems.gr

Dimitris

I looked over one at the Southampton Boat show. A very practicl yacht, built to a very high standard, with maintenance of services etc very carefully thought thru. A bit plasticy but highly practical.

Contact Martin Bandey, The Old Rectory, Brook Lane, Botley,Southampton,SO30 2ER, UK. telephone 44(0) 1489 781061, fax 44 (0) 1489 780203. He is probably one of Europe's leading authorities on new and old Amel yachts and knows where most of them are. He is a specialist yacht broker, but a complete gentleman and very willing to give all sorts of helpful free advice. If he cannot help you then I should be very surprised if anyone can.

As an owner, you will already know of the great practicality of Amel yachts. This winter I sailed a 1985 Maramu in Florida. It was the most practical boat I have ever sailed - after sitting unattended for nearly one year it was ready to go! The Maramu has the engine under the cockpit sole, perfect accessability and extremely quite. Many innovative ideas, from the only perfect water tank guage I have ever seen to clever whisker pole stowage and a great stern boarding ladder. Thoroughly practical, but devoid of character - a plastic fantastic. But, who wants to spend their life varnishing unneccessary brightwork?
