Okay fairly new to the power boating side of things but after using my 2655 for the last six months I have completely revised what I want:

no covers, what a pain in the butt, they leak, the stitching rots, the plastic cracks, and they shrink making it a mammoth job to put them back on, where do you put them when they are all off ?????

Sidedecks what a good idea they must be, if the covers are still up ( coz it's winter and can get a bit cold in the breeze) how are you susposed to get forward without feeling like a mountain climber clinging to a precipice as you edge along.

bigger bathing platform, I know it costs more when mooring but makes it so easy to get on and off and somewhere to put the tender.

rod holders coz they flop about all over the place

a 12 volt kettle, where can you get them?

good windscreen wipers, mine is [--word removed--] ( there is only one)

a roof

a glass front window, either you have to squat down to peer out or stand up and look at all the funny distored shapes through the front cover

sorry about the rant but just been down stitching my zips back on, at least the heating works....

No, your just working out what you really want in a boat. it is quite normal, and it usually takes about 3 goes to get it right.

On covers, not so bad if you have good ones. Mine are a doddle, but then the devil is in the detail!
 
I know what you mean, JPO! Even though mine are new covers, it can be knackering putting them up at the end of a tiring day. I've been looking at the Finnmasters, Aquadors and the superb Jeannau Prestige. All I need now is bit of luck...

Not getting old just wisern Now that you have done a winter you see what you really need for your type of cruising. I got a 12 volt kettle from a local caravan and camping shop but it took so long to boil I gave up and opened a beer. In the long run i found a good tuff thermoe flask was better and cheaper. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
 
with regard to covers,i take it we are talking about canopies etc,well some may not like their style but new brooms have this really sorted with a single action pram head cover/canopy,bathing platform also sorted due to new type cooney davitt watch this space many will copy.....me thinks!
 
12v kettles are not worth the effort at all.

To get a cup worth of water hot enough for a coffee takes about 30 minutes. Spend £15 on a single ring gas stove
 
Or buy a nice big genny and use 240v.

Me too, they look good and minimal covers. I dont mind a simle cover at the back, but I think I want a roof and a taller window, bl@@dy neck aches trying to see through the glass. I always leave the front cover up and although the cover is nearly new its still a strain looking through the plastic bit.
 
When i had new covers made by Jim of JB Yacht Services he tarted up my old covers so the could be used as winter covers. Saves getting the green mildew on the new ones and you sleep a bit more soundly when the wind is trying to tear them off. Dave.

But everything you've asked has been asked before and by most of us. That's why all boats are a compromise. Forward facing radar arches do help make the canopies smaller and easier to remove and stow.

A flybridge boat gives you cover and a decent window with wipers that work. The single wiper on my BMB was absolutely, completely and utterly pathetic! But then a wash over with 'rain racer' and it wasn't needed anyway.

12 volt kettles not worth considering, gaz burner simplest and cheapest and we tend to run with a flask premade.

I still prefer to helm from on top (unless it's raining) but you need to wrap up, an old flotation suit from my fishing days works a treat although looks a little Noddyish, but what the hell, 40 mile trip to Brighton recently and stayed warm as toast.

When you look for your next boat you'll have a few more boxes to tick. It's a little like car commercials, you never see one in a traffic jam. There is also a nice Aquador 23HT at Euroyachts for sale, it was around 40 something k. But then another forum member has an even nicers one for sale! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Interestingly euroyachts being an Aquador dealer also have a 2005 Aquador 28C for sale, with the builder being listed as Bella!!

Other than that, we had our canopy on the S24 repaired by the sail makers at Largs, and they did a hell of a good job, and charged us nothing.

Bella own Aquador, Flipper, and Bella boats! Bella have requested dealers start marketing them as a Bella Aquador. Mine was advertised as such untill I told them that they advertise it as an Aquador!
