Many on the string have given sound advice. I will only echo one thing which is the Shoal draft point, I would go even further and suggest a lifting keel such as on a Southerly or the new Parker 335.

Thanks Dave - more or less decided on the new Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 32 - with 6'1" to 6'4" headroom, it will suit my 6'1" frame. Also the Show deal on that boat is very extensive. I'm now really looking forward to the new discipline

Charles - many thanks for some great advice, all taken on board. I have done quite a bit of dinghy sailing in the dim and distant past. The guys at Southern Sailing School reckon that like riding a bike, you don't really forget how to do it. It's just going to be a lot bigger! I sincerely hope that my efforts to sail do NOT reflect my abilities on the golf course!! Damn ball has a mind of it's own

As compare to sailing, which is of course inexpensive and unless you own an oil tanker, inolves very little walking.. *g*
