Looks very much like I'm going to end up get given a Aluminum rib , much too big for us ,
any way part of the Aluminum where it's fixed to the tube has corroded slightly plenty of meat left and the tube have come away , as anyone repair one of these? What glue did you use ? Other then clean all the parts spotless any tips for a first time good repair ?

Thank John only problem is Amazon De , IT and eBay It having got it in stock , so not sure as yet where I can get it sent from .
Was any of the Alui damage ? How did you repair it? Epoxy?

No I have not had to do any repairs to the Aluminum or aluminium /hypalon join. My dinghy is 13 years old and in daily use, Have you tried RIMA direct? I bought some locally in Guatemala and shipped some more in from the USA

I have no particular expertise on the area but have at one time been involved in the use and voluntary maintenance of an aluminium club punt, known to one and all as "The Al", but you may need to grind out the corrosion and have it built back up again by an aluminium welder. The resulting material would need to be faired down to an approximation of the original.
A photo of the corroded part would help.

Using a grinder so close to a rubber tube , no a good idea :) .
The corrosive is where water got inbetween the tape part between the alu rib and the tube , lots of pitting , I'm thinking rubbing or sand down to get rid of the worst then use an epoxy before sticking back the tube tape .
I got nothing to lost , rib was given to me for nothing and if it works ok I move it on very cheaply , cost of the repair and a few bob for my time say a copy of hundred for a rib that cost 5k a few years back , it do some one a good turn.
If it not so good I just bin it , shame as the rest if in good nick .

You can get "metal repair" epoxy from most hardware stores, they do one specifically for aluminium. Basically they are epoxy with aluminium partials in. I have used it on aluminium ribs with great success, you can machine it, drill and file when hard, usually hard in 4 to 6 hours.
