Aluminium Deck Ring - paint or leave?

This is my aluminium deck ring. I totally forgot to do it and we launch in 2 days so I cannot do a proper job on it now. What would you recommend? In the meantime should I just leave it bare aluminium or would you recommend just painting some hammerite on it for the moment?

Not my forte but I might wonder how it got into such a state. Painting it may be advantageous but I might wonder at the state of corrosion and how that might be retarded.

But then maybe it is a very old yacht.

If nothing else I might have refreshed your thread and you may get a more useful comment from someone with a reputation (for such matters) and more useful knowledge
