Alternator excitement

I have exactly the same problem. If I bridge 4 and 8, the alternator excites. I have a non-standard alternator as well. There is a 68 ohm resistor wired across 4 and 8.

I have another issue I can't work out. My warning lights work, but the buzzer doesn't. Nothing wrong with it when I test it in isolation. The negative pole of the buzzer goes to 1 on the diode plate. Then a wire goes from 1 to pin 2 on the loom connector. From there it goes nowhere. Does it really go nowhere, and if it does, why would there be a wire running off 1 on the diode plate?

Welcome to the forum. You'd be better off starting a new thread and give as much information about your problem as possible, include information about your boat, engine, engine panel etc.

In a similar situation i got buzzer going by connecting equivalent wire to earth but then half sounded continuously some times. Did without sounder until whole new engine and alternator fitted
