Can anyone recommend a most cost effective tender than the Williams. I do want a small rib or alloy hull and a steering wheel etc. any suggestions much appreciated

Does it still have to be a jet? If not I'd suggest the RibEye T series. Ali hull RIB and very light. Centre console an option.

Just looked up the Williams. The smallest at just under 3m weighs in at 290Kg  . I reckon that could cost me 3 knots or more off my cruising speed with that hanging on the back.

The obvious alternative is the Avon jetrib, or other makes of jet rib such as Novourania, but they wont be any cheaper.

If considering an outboard RIB, then there's lots of choices. If you want the bench seat style then look at walker bay genesis, zodiac yachtline DL, Brig eagle etc.

If you prefer the jockey style, then you can fit a proprietary centre console into almost any open RIB, try outhill or IBS for consoles, or you can buy more integrated centre console RIBS like the AB Rider, and I think Brig also do one, and probabaly many others.

many options dependent on space

It depends on how much room you have and how you want it to "look", My parents looked at all sorts before going for the Avon 346 and then the avon 320 after the bigger one died, unfortunatly the avon 346 was just the right size, if we had the room we would have put a little console on a zap cat/thundercat as pound for pound they are the best you are going to get handle chop well, tow ringos and skiers etc, can carry a decent weight, cheap to maintain and replace and light enough to get up a beach with wheels on the transom.

Plus of course few davits or pasarelles have the lifting capacity to handle that sort of weight. Then there's the cost as well which is astronomical. Still, what do I know as Williams seem to be doing very well and good luck to them

It may not be a jet RIB...but I did see a very clever new tender at SBS that had an electrically folding transom and outboard. It all folded in with a remote control...quite hard to describe really, but it looked impressive. I can't remember what it was called but it was on the BHG stand just by Sunseeker. Perhaps someone else knows what its was called?? Again...I suspect it might be quite heavy though.

Looks interesting. IMHO you can't beat an outboard for reliability, ease of maintenance, control and versatility. Jet tenders in general seem over priced and seem to have maintenance issues.

I have a Williams Turbojet 325 and it is more work to flush out etc but it puts a smile on your face everytime you use it - to use a popular TV show saying "Such Fun"

I do not own a jet rib but from experience with mates ribs... some are better engineered than others...

Williams hands down:D

We saw a chap with a Fairline Targa 38 GT with the monster D6 engines, in Yarmouth a few weeks ago and I recall he had an ally RIB with centre steering etc on the swim platform, I think he was from Poole and the RIB was a Ribeye and it sat on a similar arrangement to that you have / had on your T38.

He mentioned that he sourced it himself so it didn't come with the boat, I can't recall the chaps name, very nice friendly chap, his previous boat was a T34! Tom knows who he is so I am sure he could put you in touch.
