I've just laid out all my gear to re caulk the cockpit and found that my Sula Primer has gone off and solidified. I'm in Lisbon and can't find any within easy reach. Is there an alternative to Sika Primer?

Presumably that is Sika Primer 290 DC ?

Sika Aktivator 205 ( aka Sika Cleaner 205) and Sika Primer 215 ...... perhaps.

You could try to get hold of some G4. I've used it dozens of times for exactly the job you're doing..

Tried to post an example, but for some reason it won't upload.. here's a URL anyway..

Ok that's interesting. I actually have some Bonda Marine Seal Clear. In the red tin. I wanted the Blue tin when I bought it but the chandlers said red Seal Clear was the same as the Blue Primer. Originally bought it as a first coast before woodskin.

I must say it does have a similar smell and consistency as the Sika Primer

To be honest, when I've smelt the stuff I've thought it was Sika Primer..

As I said though, I've used it before when caulking decks and had no problems or comebacks, so.. G4 should be fine.. :encouragement:

I'm in the Canary Islands and struggling to find anyone with Sika DC proms for teak or any G4.

Anyone else know what else would work for priming before laying down new deck caulk?
