If your thinking of buying an on board barbecue this is a safe and effective one.Its a George Forman grill. We use it in the cockpit with the stair cover and hood entrance flap open to keep the obvious cooking smells down. They have come down a lot, this as you can see is one of the bigger ones I paid £25 for it.No more getting a bucket out to clean up afterwards just a wipe over with kitchen paper when it's still warm. You can use it in any weather.Just put it on the cockpit table with a tray under it and within a couple of minutes your ready to go.I was looking at a gas hand rail mouted one at some ridicules price and thought again, any way I don't think I fancy having the boat on fire after some fat running off the meat or sausages flames up.

By the way George Forman is not my uncle, Honest.

I have a Cobb BBQ that I mount on a removable stand over the swim platform, and so that's pretty safe and cooks food really well.

Granted there's a bit more clean up, but I prefer the bbq flavour:

I'd suggest getting one of these, plenty of cooking room under the hood for 4 burgers and half a dozen sausages. Very happy with it

Video taken last weekend with a shot of the BBQ about 40 secs in.. got another with it open but yours truely was being a dick throughout the video so hesitant posting it :)

...I bought a Cobb, brand new condition, in carry bag, at my local council recycling centre.

For £5.

There are some amazing bargains there, and it makes me better at keeping the workshop regularly cleaned out.

Haven't used it yet though as I don't (yet) have a boat this season...

Hope you keep a bucket for water handy. For me flames boats and possible fatty foods I find a little scary.
Full marks on your ingenuity it looks very professional.

So do you have a generator installed? I'd imagine a portable petrol one would be too noisy when you want to be on deck for the BBQ. And otherwise you have to be plugged in, which means a marina, and who wants to BBQ in a car park?

+1 for the Cobb

Had it for 5 years now and used it a lot. In the garden, on a picnic, onboard, in the marina. Always ever had success with all sorts of meat etc.

Great that it doesn't get hot on the outside. Even transported it in my car once while it was going (yeah - short trip when the roast was almost done :))

I was thinking what a good idea. And my inverter will run one easily.
