Good evening, does anyone on the forum have any experience with replacing Yanmar engine mounts from a 3rd party supplier?

The ones on my engine are pretty much gone and while I'm all for OEM, at £100 ish a corner I draw the line.

I rang T-Norris who can supply an aftermarket solution (not sure on the brand) but that still came to £330ish.
I also rang AV industrial products who sell their range of mounts on eBay, the guy I spoke to hadn't heard of the engine but recommended their smallest marine mount that would take 50kg as suitable.

This would work out around £100 for the full set of 4 which would obviously be ideal, I would however have to drill and re-tap my bearers, which means taking the engine out, not to much of a problem but I'm wondering if anyone has used these mounts before I go down this path?

The other issue I can think of is that Yanmar specify two separate mounts, one for the rear and one for the front, which I imagine have differing stiffness's, wondering how much of a difference I'd notice with all 4 corners the same?

Has anyone got any thoughts to share?

I've remounted two Yanmars with help from AV. Knowledgeable about Shore ratings , if you are close to Leicester they'll let you 'through the back' to look at the stock.

I last paid c. £75 for all four. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Flexible-...895986?hash=item25afd70bb2:g:c98AAOSwLVZVuj6k

Thanks!
I guess you re-drilled and tapped your bearers to take the new mounts?
How did you find they compared with the Yanmar ones?

For that price I think I can put up with a little more vibration!

The mounts or bearers needed no working- slotted straight in. AV manufacture, the Yanmar mounts might even be AV's...

Check the data sheets for dimensions.

My current boat was bought ashore subject to hearing the 15hp 2QM running. I'm sure it was innocent but the owner did not let the revs drop to idle. When I did later the knocking made my fillings fall out! I've done a round Britain on them since. http://britainbyrivendell.weebly.com/

Thanks, when I rang up the tech department (I originally messaged them on eBay and was given the number) the guy had never heard of my engine and made his recommendation based on the weight of it. (That I told him)

I'll measure up the old mounts tomorrow and see if they match.
