Does anyone know alternative filters for a Beta Marine BD1005 - 28hp - shallow sump

I found somewhere on here:
The Oil filter is Fram PH5343 or crossland 2142
The Fuel Filter is P4766 Crossland 5004

However when the local shop produced a crossland filter on this basis - it was significantly smaller capacity (though the filter itself looked as if it might have fitted)

Have I got the numbers wrong ?

Many Thanks
James

I did my best

The Mann (Mann & Hummel , large manufacturer) filter for the fuel Fram P4766 is UKF108.

I did a quick google for your engine oil filter but got nowhere. I get all my filters from Camberley Auto Factors at very good prices. The fuel filter is common to lots of engines and is easily available. I have to order my oil filters in advance (only £3 + each) so buy 4 or more at a time for convenience's sake. That's cheaper than a single one from other suppliers...

[edit] whoops - sorry; I see you're miles away, try your nearest auto factor; Kubota engines are quite common everywhere [/edit]

Re: I did my best

Bit like me over here in Baltic ... had trouble getting filters for my Perkins Low line 4-107 ... using the Perkins #'s.....

Then we crossed with another ref guide - turns out mine are same as Ford Probe !! (Isn't that an awful machine !! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif )

You are right to be cautious. Capacity apart, flow-rate is important.
I remember (goes misty-eyed) that people used Vauxhall Viva oil filters on Rover V8s because they were cheaper and would fit.
It cooked a lot of Rover engines on motorways.

Why not get them from Beta?

Most people only change oil once a season, so whats the point in skimping on a couple of quid once a year?

Genuine will always fit, and be the correct flow rate etc.

I wrote to Halfords to get their equivalent to the Fram PH5343. It is HOF226. I have used them for many years without any problems.

This is all good info., but I think the key that is missing is the type No. of the Kubota that the Beta BD1005 is based on. Does anyone have that?
BTW, I have nothing but praise for Beta, apart from the price of spares.

Oh dear, oh dear -

It's all going round in circles; in my experience quoting engine numbers don't help; all equivalent lists are based on the vehicle or machine type. The easiest is to quote the filter number.

So I rang CAF again and the equivalent engine oil filter to PH5343 is:-

Mann W610/2
Coopers Z1129

Sadly CAF don't do mail order so you'll have to try a local source.

I'm quite happy with Mann; you can tell from how the product is presented (e.g. all loose washers supplied in the case of primary fuel filters etc). There were scares years ago when poor quality unbranded filters were on the market.
