Definitely evening shower. WHY would you go to bed all sweaty and smelly and clean up in the morning?

Women (from limited experience) seem to favour a morning shower. I put that down to not doing enough real work to get sweaty in the first place (off to get my tin hat, incoming)

I suppose it depends what you do in bed. a quick wipe is all a bloke needs, a woman seems to need another shower.

Well, some women like a bloke to smell like a bloke, so prefer the unwashed bed mate.

Must be difficult these days as they all smell like poofs :)
When submariners returned from patol, there wives would insist hubby went for a shower (bath & dhoby) in the barracks before
they went homers ( via the 4 O'Clock Home Club Bar :) ) Guess they liked a blokeish manly smell but not a hubby who smelt like a skunk :)

Bro did his 22, the latter ones on subs, similar stories off him. Going across Biscay I showered every evening, 500 plus litres in two tanks, more than enough for me and mam!
You ok?
Stu

With a Bro submariner you will know only to well what a skunk smells like :) A good patrol meant trollies, shirts, nix & socks were hard & crinklie after 3 months submerged, and could stand to attention without support when on parade infront of the dhoby machine (washing machine) :)

Fine tks Stu. Uk next Sat for 3 days. Have to have more electo tests on arm. Then back Uk again on 15th Dec to see Big Doc hopefully with answers as to what can be done. Back doing limited work on boat but no chance of sailing til arm is fixed.

OK I'm a bath man.

On the boat, bath in the evening mainly because I've been working on it all day,or in the summer hot and sweaty.

Ashore bath always in the morning.

Mad Pad

PS Whoever said you need a super yacht to have a bath is wrong!Iv'e been lucky enough to have been asked on several super yachts ..no baths.

We are 58' an have a hip bath and a full size bath.....and three loosIMG_0928.jpgIMG_0931 (1).jpg

At home, morning shower and occasional evening shower if going back home before an evening out. Baths often but always shower first.

On the boat it's an evening shower after usually a hot day and before going out, and a swim with cockpit rinse off before breakfast and a few times during the day if anchored. If sailing then will shower and shave at some point between watches during the day. I remember feeling very rufty-tufty sailory after not washing or shaving for a day or two at sea but happy to have left that behind years ago as I wouldn't do that at home.

On the boat after a sail, especially if been running the engine and has some "free" hot water and am at anchor.

At home usually early evening after golf or a run/bike ride.

When I was working first thing and often one in the evening as well.

After the Falklands war had finished and Stanley secured we were allowed to come off Mt Estancia where we'd been for about 3 weeks listening to Argie comms and as we had very little water and had to rely on helicopter supply we didn't wash and only shaved occasionally so that gas masks would fit. The first thing I did was have a a complete strip wash using a bowl and sponge. It felt soooo good afterwards. The problem was that I was the only one who did and the rest of the people in the school that was being used for clearing didn't, and boy did they stink after that. Big mistake to be clean when nobody else is.

We haven't had a bath in our house for 24 years. In both houses we had them ripped out and used the space more effectively.

58ft with a bath probably meets definition of a supper yacht, 2 baths absolutely superyacht.:)

I am so pleased my OH does not smell like a pole cat. This is one of the many reasons I go sailing with him. Take note: Smelling like a skunk endears you to no one and it should not be a point of personal pride!!!

When you are at sea in high latitudes and on water rationing things look slightly different.
Strange to relate with decent personal habits, low temperatures, limited physical activity, and wearing merino fleece you don't smell like a polecat.

However, wear polyprop thermals and you will smell real bad real quick.
