after the sorry episode of the winter when our Shetland suffered
an ingress of snow and water,(see f**kin snow) , it was with a happy
heart that she was returned to the water on the 1st of this month,
luckily most of the damage was/is cosmetic and should not have any
long term effect,
so after cleaning and drying the cabin cushions , a bit of self taught
carpentry replacing swollen doors & hinges, a good wash an a polish
and she is looking more like she old self , and less like the sorry old soak
from the turn of the year,
after a service and oil changes the engine started first turn of the key,
all we needed was for the weather gods to play their part, which they
did, so we were able enjoy a few well earned days afloat , during which
we able to recharge our own batteries relaxing doing things for just the
two of us at our own pace, we covered only 90miles and i say 'only' as
its not distance that's important but the getting there, when i first
pulled back the cover to see the mess left by the harsh winter the
idea of getting afloat seemed a long way off,
there is still some work to do but nothing that cant be put right in time,
as i say almost back to normal.

ps, any one got a suggestion on how to remove damp/frost stains from
the cabin head cloth.

Sounds like after a lot of hard work, you have made some great progress. Well done and enjoy.

Have you tried any car cockpit cleaners for the damp stains?

Are you still up on the loch, Lewi?

What type of material is the head liner? If its absorbing moisture it may be time to change it for a product that doesn't, given the condensation prone environment in which the boat lives.
