Must have been quite a sight.

The Webcam at the Minack theatre was fun to watch on that storm.

I was there a few years ago when lots of water cascaded over the breakwater, very impressive sight and sound. The surprising part for me was that it was at half tide, not high water. And there were still idiots who thought it was safe to walk to the end!
The power of the sea can be immense. Will be fun to get repaired.
What amused me in the web site story was the comment tied to it. The comment was made 2 months before the event and irrelevant to the story.
Visitors Buoy prices will go up!![]()
We are planning a wee trip over in April, weather permitting. Should I pop into M&S to buy some PJs?Hopefully they will have relaid them to avoid the 'pajama parties' we witnessed late last August

They spend a lot of money keeping Braye going. As an occasional visitor, I am all in favour, but I wonder why they don't dump a load of tetrapods along the wall to protect it. They are not very pretty, but they seem to work well elsewhere.
Two Things;
in the mid 80's I was a alongside a boat in St Peter Port, it turned out the lady aboard's dad had been an army surveyor in the 60's -70's tasked with finding out why voids kept appearing in the Alderney Braye breakwater; simple answer, the Nazi's used slave labour, whenever some poor sod keeled over they went into the concrete mix, hence gaps appearing after a while...
Alderney in poor conditions;
my childhoood hero David Blagden took a Hunter 19 ' Willing Griffin ' as the smallest boat ever to compete in the OSTAR and finished a creditable 10th; then he went on to host a TV series ' Plain Sailing ' during which he bought a 39' wooden yawl.
Let's say he became carried away with it all including possibly funny substances and an arty hippy mistress - he set off from Braye in a Force 11 despite the harbourmaster begging him not to; they found bits of the boat and his girlfriend's body.
As its one of my all time favourites I won't complain![]()
Sadly, I did not take any screen dumps.I can imagine. Do you have any photographs we can see?
