Alcudia

Thought you had an offer of an annual berth in Palma for 8K? If it's genuine then I'd go for that.
You could always join me in Alicante :)
Beaches and Tabarca Island for day trips, Mar Menor or Ibiza for longer, 15mins from the airport and in a busy city all year. No pollution, no mozzies.

We were offered a winter berth in Portals last year but haven't had any offers (apart from Alcudia) this year. Everyone else says to write back in mid September.

As a Yorkshireman I know all about saving money whenever possible, but perhaps in this instance the most important thing is to find a marina where you want to be rather than just the cheapest?
The reality is that a lot of the Med is pretty much dead in winter so if you’re thinking of using your boat during the winter months you also need to look at things like availability of flights.
If you’re not going to use it, you could also look at the possibility of wintering the boat ashore.

Absolutely! If I wanted the cheapest I'd keep it where it is at the moment (Sant Carles). It's precisely due to lack of flights, lack of life in the winter etc that I want to move. The purpose of this thread was really to understand why Alcudia seems to be out of kilter with other marinas in Mallorca. I'm still none the wiser other than they have the same monthly rate throughout the year which makes no sense to me. Indeed, they seem to be the only marina that can offer a winter berth as I write so their pricing doesn't seem to be helping them fill their berths.

Interesting thread.. we've just come back from a break in on the island staying betwixt Pollensa and Alcudia. I was wondering what the cost would be of keeping a 10m boat there. Now I know. I thought Porto Cristo would be a nice place to berth and judging by the red ensigns fluttering a chunk of Cala D'or is British.

Whilst Porto Cristo looks nice, I suspect it will be totally dead in the winter (like Cala D'Or) and if you're on the south side of the inlet then it looks a bit of a walk to bars / restaurants (assuming they are even open in the winter). A lot of places suggested I check back for availability in Mid Sept so that's what I'll be doing at the weekend.
