can anyone recommend a AIS engine to run on my C80 plotter.

is it worth spending lots of money on the raymarine one or will others do.

Look at the Comar units, constant 2 channel reception.
The cheaper models flop between A & B so misss 50% of all incoming data

I fitted an EasyAIS to my C80 with no problems. Note that the EasyAIS can take a fast heading input (NMEA) from a course computer and multiplex this onto the output together with the AIS data. I also fitted a 'stubby' aerial to the pushpit for the AIS and this could later double up as an emergency VHF if required. I pick up targets 19 miles away with the current setup.

An earlier post suggested that using a splitter can give some sugnal loss.

Just change the C80 port speed and that it.
