Looking at Raymarine P79 in-hull transducer for recently acquired i50 instrument. It's clearly an Airmar and also sold as Navico P79 for noticeably less money - are the instrument connections universal or specific to Raymarine, Navico (B&G/Simrad?).

I'm only vaguely aware of what you want to do but why don't you do a google (image) on some different makes of transducers etc

  • raymarine p79 adapter cables
    [*]airmar/lowrance adapter cables
    [*]etc.

I think you'll find that the cable will have brand-specific plugs on it. The price difference seems to be about 20 quid, might just be worth paying the extra for an easy life?

Edit: The Raymarine version is £139 at JG Tech, have you seen the Navico one much cheaper?

Yes Navico about £122 at Cactus but I agree cutting off connectors and fitting raymarine ones would probably cost more
