Air horn or electric horn?

The air horn and compressor have gone in my boat. Looking at replacements, the air horn / compressor replacement is more expensive than just a straightforward electric horn (which doesn't need a compressor).

Any reason why I shouldn't just go for an electric horn instead of replacing the original compressor and air horn?

Cheers

I prefer air horns due to volume and seem to withstand salt water better with the compressor being inside the hull but your problem would indicate otherwise :-0

i just replaced the original AFI twin compact horn on our boat with one of these twin trumpet electric horns

I did consider air horns but having had the twin trumpet electric on previous boats I know that they are plenty loud enough and a lot cheaper. I have also found that they last fairly well so all in all I decided that more money on this particular item wasn’t warranted, which in the context of what we are spending on a bit of a refit is frankly ridiculous penny pinching! ?
