Briggs and Stratton sell versions of their lawn mower engines on a leg, but do caution about fresh water use only...
Personally, I have a 1980 Yam 2T 3.5 that is air cooled and it starts 1st or 2nd every year, old fuel whatever. By far the most reliable engine I have used. Yes, a bit noisier that a 4T watercooled, but it owes me nothing.
