Is this normal practice for people to be allowed to let out boats in a marina?
Paying a substantial amount of money I expect to be with like minded people not Spanish holiday rejects with no respect.
Is this practice even actually allowed within the mooring contract?

I believe some places allow it some don't. Mind with the increasing number of floating holiday lets managed by the marina operators themselves this is likely to become a bigger problem.
I'd complain whether anyone listens to you or cares that's another question.
Was this is a swish fancy marina or a more basic place with limited facilities, I'd expect the former.

Well I let my boat in Brixham it’s called Dream , it can’t be mine though because I don’t allow people from Derbyshire .

It could be yours Roy as it moves about as regular.
Joking aside there seems to be a lot of these floating apartments in Brixham so I’m guessing also gaining more popularity at other marinas.
Fine if it’s managed but more likely this is being done with minimal marina input and has an impact on the annual berth holders I.e. wash room cleanliness, security etc.

Your right it’s the former.

Item on local news.
Very posh house rented out via Air Bnb by some very nice young ladies for a weekend away.
Estimated 200 + turned up for the party.Guests certainly enjoyed themselves !
Place was trashed.
Owners bewailing their misfortune to all and sundry .

I was in La Rochelle marina a few years ago and there was a crowd of youngsters weekending on a yacht that they had rented through AirBNB. They made a bit of noise and were perpetually pissed but they were harmless enough.

I later sent an email to the Capitainerie saying that I thought this was not what marinas were for but never had a reply.

Yes I also believe MDL Still allow it.

Also Beds on Board have been wound up I believe.
My MDL berth neighbour lets out their boat most weekends to a variety of age groups. Luckily whilst i've been staying on my boat we have had very little disturbance, and its been nice meeting different people.
However other neighbours have complained about youngsters arriving at 2-3am and partying. Also writing obscenities in the grubby screen for all to see.
Then there's the lack of security for boat owners when any stranger can arrive at anytime, whether a paying renter or not.

It’s certainly not what boating is about in my book, without challenge marinas will soon become floating caravan parks.
Air B&B are like the UBER of the travel industry attracting a certain type of clientele and unregulated.
I’m going to formally complain to the CEO of MDL, unlikely I will get a response but we will see.

Well you complained on here and we gave you a response , I arranged the peeps to get you out of the Marina.

I believe the only company allowed to be in any MDL marinas was Beds on Board !! it was the only way you could if you wanted to let your boat out. Air B & B was NOT allowed and is in breach of contract.
However if B on Board are no longer ?
Who knows !!!

I am no expert on the matter of letting a boat which I thought was Charter .
Maritime Coastguard Agency might give guidance.
Marina may in allowing security code to outsiders entering pontoon areas breach own insurance cover. Talking of which what of the boats insurance surely they have a say in things?

Are you coming back to Conwy then?

Wow, what an extremely snobby thing to say.
