No direct experience, but you may find some infos here. Third link is an article of an Italian sailing magazine. Fourth an Italian sailing forum. If you translate the pages with google you get some ideas and tips. Seems expensive to me, though, and not perfectly safe with North winds.

If you're talking about Agripoli-Salerno, the big container port in Campania, I'm not surprised you can get no information.
It is, apparently, totally controlled by the Camorra,

Agropoli

We spent a couple of weeks in Agropoli in June 2007. Although it suited us at the time I don't think I would recommend it to anyone else other than as a stopover. There are no facilities, or there weren't then and it has the usual trick of managing to be totally exposed to bad weather. While we were there, a storm came in and we were up all night trying to save ourselves... a trimaran flipped over from its berth onto the pontoon and landed on top of several other boats!

Can't really think of any other ports in that area that would make good wintering places. Tropea is perfect but a long way south. pm if you want more detailed information.

Certainly didn't realise it could get that bad! We were there two years ago for a couple of nights, albeit in good weaher. Facilities seemed OK then, particularly with the town so close to the port. There are a lot of private berths there so I wonder how they manage in high winds .

Have to admit that we didn't care for the 'plastic' feel of Tropea, although the town was excellent, once we had overcome the steps! I think that we would choose Vibo Marina if we were to stay that far south.

Thanks for the comments, most appreciated.

A bit of interest from the Camorra certainly does things to the local business structure, doesn't it?
Strangely, I didn't see a 'container port', but we were only there for a couple of days. Certainly liked the port and the working town, and friendly people, of course.

Thanks for the info.
