In one of her mysteries with Poirot she has a drug runner sail a small dinghy from Deueville to Burge Island in Bigbury Bay the island with the tractor that delivers guest to the hotel…….quite a feat!

Over230 miles passing close to the Channel Islands would certainly be an adventure in an open boatAs I'm sure you know, back in the day XChannel in Dinghies wasn't uncommon. They used to sail XChannel to race, rather than towing behind the crap cars of the time.

ok, that's on another level. thanks, I need to look that up.Frank Dye sailed his Enterprise to Iceland.
Perhaps I should look that up too, because I thought he/they sailed Wayfarers. Which were much more appropriate cruising dinghies than an Enterprise. I had one of the latter and had no intention of racing, which made it a weird choice for me...Frank Dye sailed his Enterprise to Iceland.
I think I remember seeing it at the Falmouth Maritime Museum. Definitely a Wayfarer.searching Frank Dye suggests Wayfarer. Definitely not quite the same implications as an Enterprise, but still must have been made of a thousand times sterner stuff than I'll ever be.
Yes Wayfarers although plenty of Enterprises have crossed the channelPerhaps I should look that up too, because I thought he/they sailed Wayfarers. Nut case.Frank Dye sailed his Enterprise to Iceland.
No the wife said side decks too narrow!Since been done (1993) in a 5 foot 4 inches long (or rather not-so-long) boat!
(And you were complaining a 24 footer was too small for you!)

I thought Dye was older than that.Dad had both Enterprises and Wayfarers. Frank Dye came to our club in Stonehaven and gave a talk on his (and Margaret's) trips to Norway and Iceland in his Wayfarer. Aged about 10 he scared the life out of me with descriptions of their capsizes. Nearly put me off for life.
Bloody pendantsI thought Dye was older than that.
I’ll get my coat.
