After a good days sail ....

Another vote for Guinness Zero, for my taste it's the best alcohol free beer out there. Interestingly it's huge in Ireland, and has been very much appreciated there as a way of reducing alcohol intake without losing the comforts and habits of pub life. It's also been a bit hit in the Irish traditional music scene in the UK.

My Father used to drink with a famous Barrister who would only drink 'The Famous Grouse' ... he used to say that it was good enough for him and no need to pander to the 'fashion set' !!
Once upon a time, most whiskys were blended. They used to use a combination of single malts to achieve their consistent brand's flavour. Then someone discovered you could attach snobbery to single malt and sell it at a high price. Then Diageo bought most of them.

Lagavulin on the boat.

I much prefer blended...always have. Black Label JW my favorite...although I can (could) drink most brands except Chivas Regal...too oily for me

Low alcohol. If it is low calorie as well it, is called water !
I used to rather like Michelob Ultra, although it seems to have changed drastically (and doesn't seem available here anyway). It used to be quite high alcohol (~4+%) but quite low calorie and was a reasonable summer lager for watching the Tour with.

Oily ..... I like Irish Whiskey as well as the Glendronach .... but Irish Whiskeys leave me with an after-taste that lingers ..... I'm told its because of the Peat used ...

I’ll be honest…I used to drink a lot of Canadian whiskey and Tennessee…even Japanese …but I’m not sure I ever tried Irish

I was introduced to malts during a (working freebie) weekend at Gleneagles. Four of us went to the bar and chose different malts, with a bit of pre- Covid swapping. A second round brought my experience up to eight, and what struck me was the sheer variety, leading me to continue my researches ever since.

Very few Irish whiskeys are peated, but I agree that there's a different flavour to them, not sure why - maybe just different practices in terms of brewing, distillation etc?
