I keep being bombarded with adverts for "Aeropure, battery powered air purification devices". It looks like a pretty good idea and I'd give one a try.... But the reviews online look totally made up and it just smells fishy to me.

Has anyone on here bought one or have any experience?

Every day I am seeing adverts on FB for Aeropure which will eliminate smells and mould. It all sounds too good to be true (and the science seems a bit sketchy - do ionizers kill mould spores?), but has anyone actually tried it? Interested to hear.

Yes they do kill mould spores. They also fell out of favour for being a bit harmful to humans, hence they were everywhere in the 80s and now nobody has one

I replied to a couple of these posts. Trustpilot has hundreds of 5 star reviews, all of which by people who have only ever posted one review.

Reported it to Trustpilot more than a week ago. No response.

AeroPure is rated "Excellent" with 4.7 / 5 on Trustpilot

Yes, harmful to humans. There will also be a gradual weathering/bleaching effect on fabrics etc. (if the level is high enough to do any good).

You can also enter just about any mold-inhibitiing product name in that space and get the same answer; if it is enough to inhibit mold, it is certainly enough to harm you. Sort of common sense. Better, use a mold-inhibiting cleaner and keep the boat DRY.

This is great in theory, but boats that are actively used will always have moisture in them unless the owner actively uses a dehumidifier very regularly.
Yes? Most boats, other than full time cruisers, spend most of the time at dock. Many cruisers (in warm climates) run the AC a good bit. And the OP did not suggest he was a full time cruiser.

That said, When I was cruising the PDQ (avitar) full time the boat was very dry. Good ventilation. Dusty dry bilge and zero leaks. No mold. My f-24, on the other hand, has chronically damp bilges, and even running a dehumidifier has mold problems. I really should fix all of the leaks. A truly dry bilge is probably the most important single factor.

Almost certainly just an ozone generator - think of those what you will 🤷

Second new member to start a thread on this topic in a week.
Seems YBW is being used to build presence for search engine optimisation.

The product is very clearly a scam, as said in the other thread, and very likely harmful to health.

I know someone who bought one, we opened it.

I'd love Big Clive to take a look at it and let us know his thoughts. There doesn't appear to be a fan, which in any case wouldn't last long with a battery that size. How does it clean the air in your boat? By convection? Aeropure asked me to take my negative review down as it says I wasn't a customer.
