Does anyone have any advice, recommendations, war stories for someone considering selling their 14m motorboat privately. The value is going to be in excess of £200k, so I am looking for the "do's" and "don'ts" please. Thanks all

Do take great pictures
Do build a website on something easy like Wix
Do set up a Google AdWords campaign with keywords that match your boat and similar in class
Do pitch the price right to start rather than super hign with the plan to reduce later

+1 for taking good photos, in focus, showing things in context and relevant. Also make sure the boat is neat and tidy and the sea toilet clean and EMPTY!

Try it on the Fairline boats old and new Facebook page .
Adhere to the rules as if you were a broker from both sides .
For what it’s worth it’s a great and very well maintained boat , of course I am biased , but I don’t think anyone will find a better one.

Thanks Paul, you know how fussy I am about keeping my boat spotless :D

Clean it to within an inch of it's life, then clean it again!
A ring binder full of invoices, manuals, original sales docs or anything else you may have
Be prepared to ask lots of questions and be happy to show people around the boat
Me? I'd be offering a ride out if they asked the right type of questions, you wouldn't deny someone a test drive of a car so I don't really get the "no sea trial" thing
Not trying to be controversial but surely if you want someone to buy it?

Don’t do sea trials unless a survey has been carried out OR a non refundable deposit taken (subject to survey) !!
Often the sea trial is carried out before the survey , not uncommon I did this before I bought my last boat based on a finding I made in the engine bay when I looked over the engines .

This boat will sell itself , for a start there isn’t another for sale in the uk , it’s a one owner boat , serviced to the letter by myself I can honestly say it’s a very nice example.

I'm selling my Targa 33 at the mo and i'm just in the process of sorting out pics...if it ever stops bloody raining so i can get good ones that is.

When i went to see it i made a deal before i got there about a sea trial. if i did a deal on the boat after a sea trial then great but if i walked away then i would pay the owner £50 for an hour on the water.

Everybody was happy with that and it seems fair to me and will keep the time wasters away.

So based on this approach i will happily do a sea trial for anybody.

Back to selling it...

I've taken everything off of it that is not boat related....no clothes..no food etc.

I'm taking pics with the table/bed in the saloon up and down...also the cockpit table up and down..side covers on and off...anything that will spark and interest in it.

So if you want to buy a very nice targa 33 come say hi.
