Planning our first trip into The Wash through Boston. We have a Sealine S23 and so far have only cruised on the Fossdyke and Witham.
Any tips for a complete novice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

That would have helped wouldn’t it.
We have a Sealine S23 and our experience is completely on the Fossdyke and Witham.

Depends what you plan to do, where you'll be heading. But general advice would be to watch the weather, it can get rough in The Wash, tides are very strong so you don't want to be going against them if at all possible. Lots of sand bars, so an up to date chart is absolutely essential. Beware of put buoys, particularly in the Roaring Middle.

Other than that, it's a nice area. Take a fishing rod, might still be some Mackerel.

Hi
I would go over to the sealing forum if you aren’t a member al ready go and join as there is aloof of information on there I know of a s23 sails out of Lincoln and goes in to the wash I would go out with some one who has done it before as timing is critical to go out and get back in great exsperiance if done properly

The couple with the Sealine who sail out of Lincoln post on the mobo forum here, the boat is called Naughy Cal. Cant remember the user name though. Might be worth asking this question on the mobo forum though.

If you have only had your boat on flat water, and particularly if she is diesel powered, beware of sludge in your tanks clogging the filters when you hit continuous waves for the first time. Take plenty of spare filters! It’s a problem that Severn and Avon based boats often have when they leave the calm of Sharpness docks and enter the maelstrom of the upper Bristol Channel which is not too dissimilar from the Wash(apart from the height of the tides)

Good point.
From Lincoln go on the Trent and give it a blast below Gainsborough.
West Stockwith is worth a visit.
