Probably going to need a new propeller shaft. :( A weeny bit bent) :)
Can they be straightened or must be replaced ?
Any suggestions regards supplier ?
1.5 inch shaft 78" long. Not sure of taper but will find out.
Anybody replaced before and aware if flexable coupling end of shaft has woodruff along or some sort of pin arrangement ?.
Suspect same prop and shaft set up on Princess 33 and 330.
All suggestions welcome before I start throwing money around.

If they're not too bad they can be straightened, and many of the suppliers that supply new ones also offer a straightening service. Just ask them.

I brought one of my shafts in to work and a couple of skilled lads straightened it using a fly press, vee blocks and a DTI. They got it to within .005" so I was happy with that. It's been absolutely fine since. So it is possible, and if money's tight it's a big cost saving compared to replacement.

Pays yer money, takes yer choice as they say.

Had quote from 2 sources for new shaft not (quite)as bad as suspected.
Am speaking to Clements in the morning, going to ask about straightening.
Nobody appears to have any details of P35 shafts, all need to see old shaft.
Find it bit weird that, considering just how many P35 must have worn out/damaged shafts over past 40 years.
You would have thought somebody would have the dimensions on file.
Wonder if its worth contacting Princess Heritage.?

Much better to have it made exactly to the size of your existing shaft. No big deal for whoever is making it - either give them the shaft or the key dimensions - most have a chart to enter the dimensions.

If the bent shaft is accidental damage then surely your insurance company would cover all costs involved.

100 % ...but !
Want the boat back in action ASAP and faffing around waiting for the marine industry to slowly grind into action to carry out the simple job of drawing the shaft, knocking up a copy and then popping it all back together is beyond my patience threshold :)

Lifting out on Friday, dropping off bent propshaft of to Norris at Isleworth , sitting back and counting the hours until collection time .

For anyone the least bit interested... the propeller shaft coupling is a split clamp held secure with 4 alan bolts and centre pin/dowel through shaft.
No woodruff key.
Should be back in by following weekend.:encouragement:

I was supporting you! You wouldn't have made it far enough to wallop the obstruction if you had out*****s !!

Please do shout if you want any assistance, I do have a bearing puller onboard, but might be a bit small?
