Hi everyone I'm in the process of arranging transport for a S28 from Conwy to Southampton and am receiving conflicting advice on preparation form hauliers on how to prepare.
The advice ranges from remove the canopy, radar arch domes antenna, windscreen , props, disconnect batteries, and gas bottles empty fuel and water tanks.
To just remove the radar dome and antenna, I can appreciate to a certain degree on what type of lorry will be used will dictate the procedure.
Any thoughts or advice on this especially from s28 owners who have experienced this.
Have included a pic of a s28 which looks like it has had minimal preparation.

Canopy Canvas - Definite yes
Tanks - The emptier the better. Drain the water, but storing 400L of diesel in your car's glove box is not viable.
Props - No. But the drives should be fully raised, and supported.
Windsreen - Definite no.
Gas bottle - sounds like a good idea.
Batteries - disconnect at main breakers only.
All exterior removable cushions and carpets, any loose items - secured down below.
Anchor - clip it or secure it so you're not relying on the windlass clutch to keep it in place.

As to the radar arch - remove as little as you can get away with, taking into account any height restrictions, because it's a pain to put back.

Also, with an S28, don't let the lorry driver / loader to allow too much weight to be on the keel, other than right at the stern.
The chines are much stronger for taking the loads of potholes etc.
Make sure your lorry driver / loader has soft straps or inserts to minimise abrasion from straps across the rear quarters and the upper bow sections.

Follow Flowerpowers advice. He had his S28 transported last year. REmove anything that will blow away in the draft caused by 56 mph speed. Canopy, cushions, fenders, cockpit carpet and anything loose, secure below decks, and make sure everything below decks is securred. Secure the anchor so it doesn't rattle. Remove any instruments that clip on. Scuzzies will nick these in the service station. Good luck

Thanks for the advice just what I was was looking for, would it be ok if i used your picture and comments to advise the hauliers on what I would like.
Just for the record where did you get the s28 transported to from and who were the hauliers.
Thanks again for the valuable advise much appreciated .

I think the windscreen requirement comes from flybridge boats that have a plastic wind deflector. These can easily be broken by overhanging branches etc.
