Advice on Irish Waterways needed

We'll be on one of the Haines 400's from Silverline. Should be near killaloe by the weekend we think

Enjoy. If your in Killaloe you will find the moorings on the west river bank better rather than the stone quay in the Ballina side (ie too close to the night club). The west shore has floating jetties (ie beside old canal), shore power and better access to the town centre. We should be there on thurs or fri so will watch out for you. Killaloe was the ancient capital of Ireland and has one of the islands oldest cathererals. Great anchorages near Mountshannon (behind islands) and Garrykennedy. FYI, Garmin's iPad/iPhone BlueChart Mobile app includes coverage of the Shannon as part of their 'Northwestern Europe' chart, but i think those Haines 400s may have a small chartplotter on board.

Beware the Terryglass Arts festival starts today and runs until Sunday, so the harbour will be packed. Some love it, some dislike the crowds, but it can be very interesting. If arriving at weekend expect to raft upto 3/4 deep.

Thanks for the tip OF.

Maybe I will go to portumna tonight. Hope to see you at killaloe.

Hi PEJ,

I hope you enjoyed your voyage and that my home country lived up to her famous welcome.

I spend a lot of time in Fermanagh and this crowd hire out boats in Lough Erne if you're ever back this way. I haven't used them myself though. http://www.manormarine.com/
