Advice on how to sell

Re: Prices & Brokers

Don't know the boat at all, but having had a gander at the website it doesn't look overly expensive - 40' for less than £60k

Re: Prices & Brokers

A lot of value for money - built like a brick SH - from an engineering point of view - it is so totally over engineered in the engine and rig department - must get some photos of the engine ins for the web especially the prop shaft which is about the same size as a shaft on a 400 horse fairline!

Not going to make the mistake of over pricing

Re: Fiendish ratbag option

You misread me totally! would I every do such a thing - used to work for Earnest Saunders once.

Scottish Poons

Twisters sell for less oop north than down south - maybe there's less of market for boats up there. Just coz it ain't making its price in Scottish poons, doesn't mean that you won't get a better price on the Solent. Have you any idea how Coarsehair compares in term of condition/equipment with the MacVictory?

Re: Nice site

I suggest the YM ad should point at the web site.

Having read through the web site I think you should mention the sail area and whether the engine space vents into the cockpit as a Nich 38 or externally as per the Moodies of a similar theme.

Internet space is cheap so higher resolution pics with a digital camera are warrented. I would want to see a close up of the instruments ahead of the helm, is the mizzen stepped within the cockpit and well illuinated interior shots (the current ones make the yacht look shabby).

I had to do a text search on the web page before I relaised there was a second heads located in the aft cabin.

Thanks for your help

Re: Nice site

Just a little question (to keep the tread at the top?)...

... Is it really 12000kg displacement, with 9184kg ballast? A ballast ratio of 76%? Must be a record (for a boat of this size...)

Re: Nice site

Woops - see the thread on metric/imperial arguement - I rest my case.

I think it should be lbs! I am not sure this figure is right as nicked from another advert - so I am removing it

Thanks for pointing it out.

Doing some more interior pictures this weekend.

Re: Nice site

Why do you wish to keep the tread at the top? Does'nt it provide a bit more grip on the bottom ... speaking of which that explains the displacement figures .. ballast was measured with Chris's wife hiding in the bilges .. otherwise known as the cellar. Why do'nt we just price boats by the Kg eg £3/Kg for manky old ones, and say £12/Kg for nice new shiny white ones?

<hr width=100% size=1>.. whit way roon should it be again ..

Re: Nice site

I couldn't find it when I slept aboard! That may have had something to do with Frascati and Chardonnay, though.

Re: Nice site

Wife saw your comments - watch out. Yes the bilges are the cellars.

Nice shiny new boats won't last very long - therefore sell at discount! Looking for one in Turkey - Jen 36 or something.

Hi Chris

How come you get away with advertising a biggie when my little Tinker in the For Sale bit (actually I offered a swap OR a sale, didn't say how much) gets jumped on by the forum vigilante?

If you get a minute in between fighting off the buyers, put a simple reply on my post to get it up with the fairy again!

Good luck with Corsair, she looks really nice.

Thanks for your help

Robin - the post had a very outside chance of someone on the forum wanting or knowing someone who would be interested. The main point was to get advice from the forum members- which came forward in buckets from virtual sailors everywhere (inc THE virtual sailor!). It certainly helped me to make my mind up about how I sell and the pitfalls.

Thanks to everyone

Sorry the double decker won't be around for another forum trip.

Brian _ I'm sure I will! You never know - I might not sell her. I'm starting to have withdrawal symptoms.

Got to ring little brother in Melbourne to see if they got back OK. They have been over here for a month.
