Hi everyone, I am new to the forum but a subscriber to both magazines and keen boater with my family. We are looking to move up to a flybridge yacht (second hand) and so are working with the following options:

(i) 2008 P42 in great condition, well maintained but with 1200 hours on Volvo D6-370's (has been regularly chartered on by the owner),
(ii) 2010 Prestige Fly 42 (now superseded by the Prestige 450) immaculate with 100 hours on Cummins QSB 425's, OR
(iii) 2008 Azimut 42E in great condition, well maintained with 400 hours on Cummins QSB 380s

Asking prices are all about the same as is spec, they are all 44-45' yachts with beat of 13.5'. Displacement is roughly the same. As we have FIVE kids, flybridge space is at a premium and both the P42 and Prestige have a table on the flybridge, Azi does not and seems smaller. The P42 feels slightly bigger in the saloon but not by much, but has higher internal finish to the Prestige which has the most modern (squarer) layout. We don't go out in poor weather and live in warmer climes so the main question is condition. The Princess has many more hours which would seem to hurt its resale value although a yacht used well, and well looked after is a much better prospect than a low use boat neglected but all these yachts have FSH and are regularly maintained and serviced etc. The P42 is very solid but seems a little underpowered with the 370's (the Volvo D6-435s are an option but not fitted)

So the question is, which one is the best option ? One has been chartered but with excellent management and service, the others not and so are in slightly better internal condition, the Prestige being pristine. On the other hand the Princess is extremely solid and has more pedigree.......We typically cruise in med like waters doing daily trips of up to 80 knm so use a lot of engine time, approx 150 hours a year. We don't do extensive overnights but would do 2-3 days at a stretch...

So would really appreciate opinions from the forum. I am sure there is great experience out there ! Thanks in advance
