advice - Med boat - 40-44ft, c30knots, <£200k

We have just completed our first year's ownership of Sealine S34 - and we absolutely love it.. We love it so much we are thinking about downsizing the house, and upgrading the boat.

Priorities are:
- reliability, predictable costs - so thinking shafts
- apartment like space (s34 scores v.well here)
- easily accessible swim platform
- space for tender (not necessarily a garage)
- suitable for med (air con + gen)
- cruising speed 25kn+
- mainly be used for 2 people, plus occasionally 2 visitors
- budget <£200k

Late Targa 43, Sealine S43 (not S41)/S42 would be a good start. Well under your budget.

I'd go for a FB though

you might have to drop the speed ambition a little, but otherwise Id look at Phantom 40, Princess P42 from the brit builders - though you really do find you need space for longer periods. im very glad we went up to 50ft - costs in the med are more resonable on berthing etc so a late 40ft (47-49ft) would be worth considering.

With that in mind a P45 or Phantom 43/46 might be a better bet

Yeah it is. The F430 is a real mini superyacht. All the old Ferretti build quality in a smaller package

If you want speed then go for a Pershing 43 / 46, Sessa C42, Hunton XRS43 - accommdation is fine for two people.

Other end of the scale a Beneteau Swift Trawler 44 in Med spec is probably all the boat you'll ever need with a decent cruise of 20 knots.

Spent an interesting day mooching around SIBS, looking at pretty much every 40-50ft boat on offer with my wife.

We have decided on the spec we want.. the only problem is I am not sure such a boat exists.

Revised spec is:
c45ft - 50ft open top cruiser - not a fly bridge. I appreciate we are going against the flow here; but we just don't feel they will work for us; and it is us who will be using the boat.

We want 2 cabins - with ability to make a double bed in each (no bunk bed options)

Ideally we would want a retractable hard top; plus 'patio doors', plus shafts, plus a tender garage.

Does such a beast exist?

Speed - not important

Closest I can think of is Targa 47 - but no patio doors. Budget is still c£200k - but curious to know if there are boats that offer this spec that are above budget.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

You will find boats but you'll have to move away from the British comfort zone when it comes to brands.

The obvious choice is the Jeanneau Prestige 42 - had the option of patio doors, a garage, hardtop and two good sized cabins. The 50s is also a great boat but no patio doors

As for stuff you might not see in the uk how about these:

Azimut 43s - could you live with a hi/lol platform instead of a garage?

Alena 48, Italian. Ticks all the boxes. Lots on Italy

Astondoa 53 - ok a bit bigger than max but what a lot of boat for the money

Presuming you mean the Prestige 42S rather than the 42 (which is a fb) then this is pods, not shafts. Titchy garage as well, although does have a mid-master. The patio door/elec window closure on the 42S was an option, not standard fit, so just something to look out for the ads.

Yes I did mean the S - forgot they also did the FB back in the day.
I was thinking the shaft requirement might just translate to actually mean not out drives, and the garage is small but at least it exists. I did say the patio doors were an option (I remember you looking at the 42 years ago)

Other than that I can't think of any boat in the mainstream of uk boating that for the bill. There are boats (see the link) but they mean stepping outside of the U.K. Buyers comfort zone
