Advice for boat yards prioritising boat launches when the great unlocking begins

I think teak decked boats should be last as that gives them time to refix them ;)
Lloyds spec built boats should be first... hmm, can only think of a rustler(without teak decks) ?
British built boats with british engines certainly jump the queue , and if your boat has anything made by plastimo you go right to the back and stay there....

Darn, Danish engine and loads of Plastimo stuff on board....to the back of the queue I go.:(

Btw, purely our of interest, who are the British manufacturers of marine engines? Other than seagull, I can’t think of any, but I am no expert on this.

Ummmm, Bolton& Watt ?
I think you are very close to the mark.
Perkings, lister, petter, Leyland marine engines ,Gardner.
Some of the above are no more but their engines soldier on world wide.
Have you seen how crazy cheap parts are for some of these engines? ?

Some of us saw this coming.... new rigging and antifoul, relaunched and ready to go March 20th... ?

just in time for the March 23rd shutdown. ?

Asking Boat yards to check for green coloured engines is not going to work, maybe some posters are not taking my consultation seriously.

Possibly we could look to the government to advise boatyards on what to do with boats that are in the water but unusable.

On the persevered wisdom of the forum , owners of ferocement with tiler sterling, British made with green engines and no Plastimo on board should receive maximum compensation; Teak deck, dark hull, Finish Construction with Perkins engine come a close second, Southern German made white boat with no green painted engine maybe lucky to get a luncheon voucher.

Tink-tink-tink

...and every so often: tink-tink-tink-tink........tidilink-tink-tink-tink... Pausing just long enough to worry the skipper, before catching up with itself.

I'm lucky enough to enjoy the red-blooded thrill of a having a whole 8hp at my command: at wide open throttle, it's just about capable of pulling the top off a rice pudding at 3.25 knots.

What will happen at our yard at least is the boats "in the way" will get launched first, especially if their mooring is free and easy to get too.
It usually works that last out tends to be first back in.
Owners that ask, "can you just......" two days before launch will probably be bumped down the list.
Likewise the boats where the owner came down, applied 3/4 of a coat of antifoul, left their interior lights on and killed the battery will also drop down the list.

As we have to launch in the last two or three of hours of the flood tide, the number of boats we can launch has a limit.
We can probably launch three bilge keelers in the time it takes to launch one 40' long or deep keel yacht.
So owners of Oyster 435's and the like need to book much earlier than owners of a bilge keel Westerly Conway.

Not that any of this will be an issue here as we've not stopped at all, so apart from restricting visitors, the cafe being closed and no water borne visitors, life has pretty much remained the same as usual.

Beta engines are a kinda british-ish engine.

I'm wondering if it would help to paint my auxiliary outboard green. I'd appreciate advice as to the best paint to use please.

That line about keeping the over 70's locked up a bit longer should help flatten the launching curve. And I am not being too specific about length, year of manufacture or age ;-)
Phew, I am still under 70, so I will be OK. Not that it matters as Concerto is already in the water in the marina. Best of luck to you wanting to get launched ASAP. :D
