Adverts on this forum

Hi is it possible to get rid of these adverts, also what's has happened to Private Messages, they are elongated down the page about three letters wide.

Of course but why have they changed the format and put them down the side of the forum, it's a real pain on my iPad.

stylish, works on computers & deletes the spaces left by adblocker

Cures all the problems, used with Adblock.

I'm now using Adblocker Plus and am wondering how it works as there may still be implications when using foreign PAYG sims or for those with capped plans. Does it block the download or just not display the advert or video once downloaded?

Generally it will prevent the download happening and save you the data.

Not a good place to download Stylish - or anything else IMO. That version is way out if date.
If using Firefox get it from http://addons.mozilla.org

And Stylish on its own doesn't do anything. You need the userstyle as StorkIII posted.

It's our user-generated content which attracts readers and generates advertising revenue. This is a commercial operation, not a charity funded by benevolent advertisers.

My daughter has provided me with .css file for use with IE8, which stops the ads, cuts out the advert place holders and cuts out the news sidebar.

As others have stated, there is a cost to running this site so whilst irritating, on my work computer I don't mind it eating up bandwidth, however I can see if I was on limited bandwidth that costs it would drive me away from the site (and crazy mad also :dejection.
