Admiralty print on demand.

Have to say I'm somewhat allergic to the 15 pound for each small craft chart and no folios!

I'm quickly becoming an imray convert!

The expensive printers needed for UKHO Print on Demand are, I believe, too expensive for any chandleries. Only affordable by major chart agents, typically those that have a large base of commercial customers buying volumes of paper charts.
Chandleries which used to stock the UKHO Small Craft Folios were never “manually updated prior to sale”. But they were available to buy immediately when needed on passage. This will presumably lead to most swapping over to sell only Imray folios (where these are available for that region).

Just 18 across the UK, and many a long way from typical yacht harbours (Plymouth & Belfast perhaps exceptions)

Can you identify or give a link for the one in Belfast. I could go up there on my Free Travel Pass, buy direct and avoid importation charges.

Why don't you want folios? Probably better to buy them while they're still making them if you don't like paying £15 per sheet. They've not yet been discontinued, and several were refreshed October of last year.
 
+1 for Todd, I've used them (via the internet) for leisure charts and also for commercial use.

Regarding chandlers not being able to supply print on demand charts, would the chandleries be able to buy some from the big chart agents who now print them and keep a small stock of popular ones (like they currently do)?

They are going to be though!

Imray folio is better value, better paper, OK I don't like the blue sea, but I'll get over that eventually!

Crux is the whole 'folio' in the future is going to be more like 150 quid!
