Ok so I think I have a plan . Does anyone know if a 38mm od X 3mm tube will go into a 42mm od X 2mm tube (IE 38mm I'd ) . And anyone have any suggestions as to suppliers on the south coast (based on the iow) .
Are you south coast based ? I have some drawings I've been working up - do I assume correctly you are a stainless guyI made these for a sport fisher. Maybe one would do what you want. Any size and design you like.
I can swing on the end of one of these and I am 14 stone (88Kg).
A lot cheaper than the Plastimo as well!

I'm a semi retired semi professional boat rebuilder and stainless is just one of the many trades I cover. Based near Tiverton in a barn in a field! I've made items for other forum friends and not had any complaints so far. If you're ever up this way you're very welcome to drop in.Are you south coast based ? Yes please Simon that will do nicely . Any chance of delivering to Christchurch so I can take it back on the plane with me when I fly back 1st march lol.I had this one made by a local stainless steel shop, quite pleased with the result although once rigged I realised the bend in the top serves no purpose! It's positioned so that when the tender is moored alongside, it lifts the outboard straight from bracket to transom.

Hi,I wanted to make life easier a few years ago as well... Getting the 2hp stroke back on board was easy but it just wasn't going to happen with a newer 4 stroke 6 hp.
I went for the lifting davit from Force 4 because it looked simpler than the other options.

Dimensions area on their website. The upper bracket clamped around the pulpit rail and luckily for me, the lower bracket just bolted to the toe rail.
With it fitted in the right place it will lift the engine off the pulpit mounted stowage bracket, swivel and then lower it a pre-determined (with a knot) amount so I can then just get into the dinghy and guide it onto the transom. I don't think I'd manage the bigger engine any other way.
I must admit I did fit a larger block and tackle to the end but that was to make the lifting even easier.
If you can arrange the line from the 2;1 purchas block to feed to one of your sheet winches as I have done it makes it very easy to like any small outboard.Hi,
I know this is an old thread but hoping for a bit of advise and your experience so far.
Also getting a 6hp 4 stroke outboard and was thinking of getting the same lifting davit but am a bit worried about the 2.1 purchase.
My wife may well be doing the lifting so want it fairly easy and controllable.
You mentioned adding a larger pully - did this make much difference? Alos does the rope get jammed at the top as it exits the single pully?
Cheers, Steve

With my setup I fined it easier for the person in the boat (me) to hoist on the rope while the person on deck (wife) guides the motor and davit to the correct positionHi,
