I want to add a compass (maybe a Raymarine AR200) to my Axiom/Quantum/st1 instrument setup to get MARPA to work.
I attach a chart (hope it makes sense) of how I wired the Axiom/Quantum to my 20 yr old st1 stuff a few years back.
How would I wire in the AR200 compass or even something cheaper with NMEA2000?

Can’t tell from the manual if the n2k combined power/ n2k lead powers the n2k network. Doubt it. I’d just by a n2k starter kit. You’ll need the bridges and end cap things anyway.

try running it using the plotter n2k cable as power…if nothing works….add the 12v supply in the n2k kit powered from a separate source

The simpler way is to add a ST60 Compass instrument head and flux gate compass.
Now there’s a thought!
Loads of ST60 flux gate compasses on eBay for about £80. I wonder if I need the instrument head?
I edit
The instrument heads are only £100 on eBay and it would make calibration easier to have one. After that it can live behind the dash panel.
So for £180 plus a “ring main” cable that’s a very easy to fit solution.
Thanks

You need the instrument head to connect the flux gate compass to the system unless you have an autopilot or ITC-5

Can’t quite remember what I did 4 years ago but the little diagram on the bottom right of my schematic implies that my ST60’s may still have their original 12v supply and since the Axiom and Quantum have their own supply I might have a spare white port for Mr Googler’s Garmin SteadyCast suggestion.
I‘ll unplug the 12v on the n2k kit and see If it all keeps working.
If so I will have a spare “white“ lead and just need (somehow?) to find what Garmin wires are compatible with Raymarine‘s wires.

No you won’t? N2k is n2k

Good find at £25
Yes I have a stng bar with (after I test it) possibly a spare port (white)
I assume the Garmin won’t plug straight into this and it would be for the (expensive) Raymarine AR200
Should plug straight in with that adapter. Stng is n2k with different connectors

that a06045 cable is a n2k to stng adapter anyway!

Just plug in with adapter to suit, cable adapters £25, N2K all the same just different plugs, as long as you’ve got a spare port, if not just get a tee fitting

You can tell from my questions that I’m on a learning curve here.
I‘ve only seen tee fittings on schematics showing a fully stng backbone with tees coming off for the various devices. Is there anything clever inside the tee?
Can I just put a tee fitting between my starter kit (stng output) and my Axiom and plug the AR200 in?
I‘m wondering now why Raymarine didn’t suggest this rather simple solution.
