Addding solar to fair line targa 43 45

I have bought solar panels and victron mppt to add charging for my two leisure batteries after replacing wi5 new because the factory fit ones failed within three years. Gone for agm batteri s but want to try to keep them charged this time.

Expected to find batteries linked in parallel but they seem to be a bit more convoluted than ezpected

Sadly fair line owners manual no real use

Any ideas where I should connect my live and neutral to from my mpg to charge both batteries

A diagram would be helpful.

The solar to MPPT is easy, the MPPT to one battery is easy, but it is how your house batteries are linked that is the key.

connect to the engine battery, then you may need a VSR or similar to transfer the excess to other batteries

You connect to the positive and negative terminals of the domestic bank, not just one battery.

But, you need to know how the batteries are connected. Is the boat 24v ? If so, is the MPPT 24v ?

Boat is 12v and mpptmatches ok. Im ok with the above - its just finding out how the house batteries are connected that is stumping me. Annoyingly the user manual has no technical info on this.

You need to follow all the positive and negative wires and make a diagram. Marking all the bits of kit on the diagram - makes and models of anything would be helpful or photos.

Pop back with the diagram and we might be able to work out what is happening.

Hi Thanks for the helpful comments so far.

I am hopeful that we have a fix for this.

Our local very trusted engineer has suggested connecting the mppt to one battery as the "magic" happens over at the breaker board where the two leisure batteries are joined.

I am now trying this - any thoughts?

Without knowing how the batteries are wired, etc, it's impossible to give definitive advice.

One thing is certain, if more than one battery is wired in parallel you should charge as a bank, not just one battery.
